  • Through engagement with the local community, the project hopes to raise awareness of the river environment and encourage good environmental practise amongst those living and working in Deeside.

  • ACES brings together natural and social scientists to carry out inter-disciplinary research on environmental sustainability. Founded in 2007, ACES achieves this by building from the strengths of two high-profile research institutions - the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute and the University of Aberdeen.

  • The Arable Seed Identification System (ASIS) was developed as a joint project between the Institute and students from the University of Abertay Dundee. The database aims to help users identify unknown seeds.

  • The objective of this project is to establish a network of researchers and a research agenda focused on developing methodologies and tools to analyse tradeoffs and synergies between different ecosystem services to address poverty alleviation in semi-arid Africa.

  • The CATCH project is a collaboration between people with expertise in catchment research and catchment, coastal or river basin management and planning. 

  • The Cereal Pathogen Resistance Allele Database (CPRAD) catalogues information on the pathogen resistance alleles reported to be found in genotypes of barley and in future wheat and oats.

  • The Commonwealth Potato Collection is a major genebank containing over 1300 accessions of 86 different species related to the cultivated potato S. tuberosum L. which is hosted at The James Hutton Institute.

  • Website for the Exploiting genomics to understand plant-nematode interactions research project.

  • The Dee Catchment Partnership is an independant association of agencies, organisations and individuals committed to the wise and sustainable use of the catchment's rivers, tributaries and lochs, as well as the habitats and species they support.

The James Hutton Research Institute is the result of the merger in April 2011 of MLURI and SCRI. This merger formed a new powerhouse for research into food, land use, and climate change.
