for land owners, land managers and renewables industry
Estate Scale Renewables programme

The Scottish Government’s Agri-Energy Strategy has a potentially huge impact on Scotland’s energy sector and rural economies, with far-reaching benefits for the whole country. Richard Lochhead, Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs has himself stated:

“Scotland is currently experiencing a renewables revolution and I want to see farmers, crofters and land managers working with local communities to ensure they grasp the benefits for their businesses and the nation.

"Farmers and land managers have access to our nation’s abundance of natural resources, so it is no wonder they are already queuing up to grasp the opportunities presented by renewables.”

“The renewables revolution offers our farmers and land-based industries the opportunity to cut energy costs, generate new income and contribute to our low carbon future. The list of benefits is endless.”

The Estate Scale Renewables conference will examine the renewables market and the opportunity for estate-scale programmes, the technologies available, pioneering projects which have already been undertaken by Scotland’s land owners and estate managers, skills and work force readiness and, crucially, funding.

Professor David Miller of the James Hutton Institute will be speaking at the conference on "Our landscapes and their responses to pressure".
