for farmers, land managers, researchers and others interested in sustainable agriculture

Hear the latest practical innovative and sustainable research for arable and mixed farms funded by the Scottish Government, and discuss ideas on how we can support the environment alongside sustainable food production.

The meeting will feature new research on:

  • Healthy soil management to retain yield
  • Minimum tillage
  • Importance of encouraging insect pollinators
  • Rotational crop advantages
  • Mixed cropping

The afternoon workshop will discuss the future direction of research and sustainability with an interactive farm model.

This free event is co-organised by the James Hutton Institute and Scotland's Rural College, and supported by the Scottish Government.

The James Hutton Research Institute is the result of the merger in April 2011 of MLURI and SCRI. This merger formed a new powerhouse for research into food, land use, and climate change.
