Potatoes in Practice 2019 field plot treatment form

Please complete the field plot treatment form, along with an exhibitor booking form to request a field plot exhibitor space at Potatoes in Practice 2019. Fields marked * are mandatory. Hold the CTRL key to select multiple options from the drop-down lists. A separate field treatment form must be completed for each plot requested.

Deadline for submission of field plot bookings is 28 February 2019.

Please select which type of field plot you have booked and whether you need additional space for a field marquee. Please note that changes to harvesting options above will not be accepted unless authorised by the James Hutton Institute at time of booking. Charges may be incurred for additional requirements. Please confirm that all planting material is Scottish classified seed. All planting material to be supplied by organisation responsible for demonstration plot. Otherwise, special arrangements may be possible upon request.

Soil Analysis

 

Please indicate if you require a soil analysis of your demonstration plot to determine any pre-planting applications. This might incur a small charge.

Inputs

 

Please indicate if you want standard inputs on your field plot as outlined. If not, please enter specific instructions in the box below each treatment option. Changes or additions may incur additional costs.

Please note that if you provide the chemicals for Hutton staff to apply on your behalf, a valid COSHH assessment must be provided with each chemical, otherwise they will not be accepted or applied. Chemicals must be collected after the event as additional costs will be incurred for disposal.

 

Standard treatment: Without irrigation and with haulm destruction at the end of August, the maximum N needed is 147 kg/ha.

Therefore, our standard fertiliser treatment for all plots is 147 kg/ha of Nitrogen, 147 kg/ha of Phosphorus, 293 kg/ha of Potassium.

Standard treatment: Herbicide seal will be applied after drills have been closed and before crop emergence; any emerged weeds will be burnt off with a contact herbicide prior to crop emergence. Treatments: Artist 2.5 kg/ha; Stomp Aqua 2.9 l/ha; Shark 0.33 l/ha; Reglone 2 l/ha.

Standard treatment: Reglone and Spotlight Plus will be used.

If you have chosen No for standard haulm destruction please enter your specific requirements here. Changes may incur additional costs.

 

Standard treatment: Where PCN is present, nematicide will be incorporated pre-planting.

If you have chosen No for standard PCN please enter your specific requirements here. Changes may incur additional costs.

 

Standard treatment:

Blight control: Protectant sprays to start as soon as crop emerges and continue according to the Hutton Criteria, i.e. where two consecutive days have a minimum temp of 10°C AND at least six hours with a relative humidity ≥ 90%


Aphid control: Regularly – sometimes at night re: bees/flowering – if aphids present (can be combined with fungicide applications).
