'A Plastic Ocean' Film Screening

The global production of plastic continues to grow and a significant proportion of this ends up in our oceans. It is predicted that by 2025, without improvements to waste management, there will be 1 ton of plastic for every 3 tons of fish. Whether large or microscopic the presence of plastic waste in the oceans is already having a detrimental effect on marine life.

The James Hutton Institute are pleased to invite you to a free screening of Craig Leeson’s, ‘A Plastic Ocean’. Described by Sir David Attenborough as ‘the most important documentary of our times’, the film explores the fragile state of our oceans, uncovers alarming truths about plastic waste, and reveals working solutions that can be put into immediate effect.

Following the screening there will be time for discussion with James Hutton Institute scientists whose research is contributing to the understanding of social and environmental issues raised in the film. The evening will conclude with the opportunity to join others in Aberdeen in reducing our own plastic consumption with a plastic-free challenge.

Travel

We politely urge all those attending the screening to either walk, cycle or use public transport and enter the institute via designated pedestrian and cycle entrances. There is also ample car parking available.
