“We are seeking views from the community on the draft plans for the site, to ensure that the future development of the campus is fit for purpose and that it meets the needs of all potential users”

The James Hutton Institute and the Macaulay Development Trust have announced plans for the evolution of the Institute’s Craigiebuckler campus in Aberdeen and will hold a public consultation to allow people to learn more about the vision for the site and to help shape firm development proposals.

Several developments are being considered for the site, including a new access road from Countesswells Road, the sale of surplus land, and the construction of a new hub building and additional accommodation block, supported by investment from the Macaulay Development Trust.

Professor Colin Campbell, Chief Executive of the James Hutton Institute, said the Hutton has been working on an updated masterplan for the campus to assess existing provisions and identify opportunities.

“We want to ensure that the campus is fit for purpose, and that opportunities are provided for the whole community to enjoy the Craigiebuckler campus. We’ve been taking advice from a range of professionals, and the existing site has been appraised and issues identified.

“We are seeking views from the community on the draft plans for the site, to ensure that the future development of the campus is fit for purpose and that it meets the needs of all potential users,” Prof Campbell added.

A public drop-in event will take place on Wednesday 9th March at Craigiebuckler, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. Following this session, public information will remain available on site for members of the public to view until Wednesday 23rd March.

Information regarding the consultation is available on our Craigiebuckler campus community consultation page.

Feedback gathered during the sessions will be collated, considered and used to inform the masterplan and future planning applications.
