The first James Hutton Institute Open Day will be held at our Dundee site this summer when we look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages to find out more about our work.

There will be a wide range of exhibitions and hands-on activities to help visitors learn about our research. Many members of staff will also be on hand to answer questions whether it's about running our farms and glasshouses or conducting experiments in the laboratory.

  • Tractor tours of the farm
  • Be a Nature Detective
  • Discover mini-beasts
  • Find out how we record the weather
  • Visit the virtual landscape theatre
  • Discover DNA
  • Become a Bug Hunter
  • Examine scientists in our Scientist Zoo
  • Sample our world-famous soft fruit

Our Open Day coincides with Open Farm Sunday weekend so we will be marking it on Saturday.

The James Hutton Research Institute is the result of the merger in April 2011 of MLURI and SCRI. This merger formed a new powerhouse for research into food, land use, and climate change.
