"Food Security - whose problem is it?" is a workshop aimed at young people aged 11-19 during Big Bang Scotland 2013. It will explore the issues around producing enough to feed a growing world population; ask why it matters and what we can and are doing to tackle it.

This interactive and thought provoking workshop will ask the questions:

  • have you heard of it?
  • whose problem is it?
  • do we really know what it means for each for us?

The workshop will be run by leading scientists from the James Hutton Institute, Moredun Institute, Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health and Scotland’s Rural College, as part the Scottish Government’s Strategic Research Programme.

There will be the opportunity to compare the audience’s views with those of members of the public from across Scotland.

The James Hutton Research Institute is the result of the merger in April 2011 of MLURI and SCRI. This merger formed a new powerhouse for research into food, land use, and climate change.
