Macaulay Scientific Consulting Ltd., a commercial subsidiary of the James Hutton Institute, will be at the All Energy 2014 [1] exhibition at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre from 21-22 May. Visitors can find them at stand M80 where they will be talking about marine and seascape visualisation.
We will be using our Virtual Landscape Theatre [2] in which stakeholders can be 'immersed' in computer models of their environment to explore marine environments and seascapes and allowing them to identify issues which concern them whether they are local communities, politicians, academics or from commercial outfits. It also allows them to see the wider picture of the environment they are seeing and identify issues and potential conflicts which may arise by changing land management and marine developments in line with policy updates.
This year our stand has the theme of marine and seascape visualisation and will highlight issues arising between the growing interest marine renewables, land use changes in line with changing policy and the potential effects on existing seascapes and marine industries and activities. For example could the infrastructure of renewable energy development change the existing ecosystem by introducing artificial reefs or forestry activity create run off increasing the sediment level of the loch or forest litter change the acidity. A video clip of our work can be seen on Macaulay Scientific Consulting Ltd. [3] section of the All Energy 2014 website along with other materials.
Entry to All Energy 2014 is free and visitors can register online [4].
