Geology:
thin drift on hard, coherent rock.
Landforms:
steep, almost vertical rock walls and corries, steep slopes with very thin drift and rock outcrops, stepped and terraced topography with short, steep rocky crags, ice-moulded rock knolls in an undulating lowland of peat flats and black, dubh lochans.
Soils:
peaty rankers.
Vegetation:
semi-natural vegetation, coarse grassland and heather moorland.
Flow:
rapid surface runoff.
