A business plan is an essential tool to assess the financial viability of a business and it is the document that banks or other investors will want to see seeking finance. New entrants, or even well-established farmers proposing a new enterprise, will find preparing and presenting a business plan very beneficial, as they communicate their ideas to lenders.
On Tuesday 23rd July at Barony College, 7pm-9pm Rodney Wallace, Agriculture Director at HSBC will advise and demonstrate what you should include in a business plan which is intended for a potential investor. With uncertain times ahead in farming it is ever more important that these professional skills are learned for new and existing businesses to move forward. >He will cover a future strategy for business planning, what the bank looks for and then participants will look at a case study. He will also touch on the threat of financial fraud
In this workshop event, participants will be given a farm tour of Craignathro Farm. Matthew Steel will describe his current system then the group will be asked to appraise the business, looking at its strengths and weaknesses, then decide on a strategy to take the business forward. The Event will be led by David Ross (SAC Consulting) discussing enterprise profitability and finance with the group. >This event will give New Entrants the necessary tools to look business opportunities from an objective viewpoint. This meeting is being run in response to a training need which has been identified by new entrants and young farmers in the area. As the event will be on farm please remember to wear footwear suitable for disinfecting.
