This work is examining the potential for increased food production in the Ythan catchment and its likely impacts on meeting nature conservation obligations, using the ecosystem approach. The ecosystem approach is a management tool to conserve our ecosystems whilst meeting the demands placed on them by society.
This work aims to investigate the use of this method in terms of its practicalities; do we have sufficient knowledge of goods and services, ecosystems and human impacts as well as adequate resources to fully carry out such an approach.
