Humus-Iron Podzols

Humus-Iron Podzols soil profileDistribution Humus-Iron Podzols [1] These soils are naturally acidic and nutrient deficient but support a number of uses. Many areas in NE Scotland have been improved for agriculture, but other areas support productive forestry plantations and vegetation communities of conservation interest, for example heather moorland and native pinewoods.
