Open Farm Sunday 2018: New Venue!

Come and spend a fun family day at Glensaugh Farm!

The Institute will be taking part in Open Farm Sunday 2018 on 10 June.

This year we're heading North to the Grampian foothills where our Glensaugh Research Farm lies. Glensaugh is very different to our usual OFS venue at Mylnefield in Dundee with geological formations, agroforestry, sheep grazing, bracken and heather, managed woodlands, small lochs and red deer.

Glensaugh is a working farm but visitors are welcome any time. A self-guided trail leads visitors on a circular tour, pointing out areas of geographic, social, landscape and historical change. The trail takes about an hour to walk, following tracks and paths through the Slack Den (glacial meltwater channel), uphill to the Cleek Loch (interesting landscape of small lochs and hanging valleys), through recent native woodland planting, returning to the farm along the shore of Loch Saugh.

Catering

Catering will be provided on-site by Laurencekirk-based caterer What the Fork. Bring a picnic blanket!

Dogs

Unfortunately we can only allow assistance dogs on site during the event due to the close proximity of children, livestock and working farm machinery. We apologise for any disappointment this might cause but this is to ensure the safety of everyone.
