Geology:
water-modified glacial tills.
Landforms:
undulating lowlands typified by Strathmore and, occasionally, foothills adjoining the Midland Valley.
Soils:
mineral non-calcareous gley soils with wetness class II to III.
Vegetation:
arable and permanent pastures.
Flow:
predominantly unsaturated vertical flow but, when waterlogged, the dominant flow regime will be largely saturated lateral flow.
