HOST Class 9

Geology:
fine textured (silty or clayey) lacustrine or riverine alluvium.
Landforms:
often associated with loch margins or in-filled ox-bow lakes on broad alluvial flood plains. Occasionally they are found as large, relatively stone-free areas of former lake beds which are still prone to seasonal flooding.
Soils:
imperfect to poorly drained alluvial soils.
Vegetation:
often rush pasture.
Flow:
by-pass flow to shallow groundwater.
