As the prinicipal donor of the Mylnefield Trust we have donated £125,000 through Gift Aid.

A successful year for Mylnefield Research Services has meant a major boost for the Mylnefield Trust with the donation of £125,000 Gift Aid taking the trust’s reserves to over £1 million for the first time.

The Mylnefield Trust supports education in agricultural and environmental sciences in various ways through the funding of PhDs, developing resources for school children such as The Living Field projects, student competitions and the training of plant breeders.

Mylnefield Research Services is a commercial affiliate of The James Hutton Institute, converting scientific knowledge through innovation and industrial partnerships into new and improved products and services.

Dr Nigel Kerby director of Mylnefield Research Services said: “MRS has just finished another highly successful year and as the prinicipal donor of the Mylnefield Trust we have donated £125,000 through Gift Aid.

“That has enabled the trust to reach the milestone of having access to reserves of £1 million and fulfil its strategy of building up its reserves so it can support its activities from investment income.”

As well as the Gift Aid given to the Mylnefield Trust, MRS also gave £100,000 Gift Aid to support the work of the Institute. This is in addition to buying scientific time and paying full economic costs for its activities, bringing the total contributed to the Institute over the past year to £1.2 million.
