Caroline joined the Institute in 1984 as a research assistant. She has experience of a broad range of analytical techniques and a substantial amount of general laboratory experience. She was the coordinator of the sample preparation team for the National Soils Inventory for Scotland (NSIS) resampling programme, and has worked within the Analytical Group.  She was the Facility Manager of the National Soils Archive. She was the forensic lab manager from 2019 till 2023. She currently works as Sub contracts officer and agile policy centre administrator for the LUNZ Hub project.
