The Scottish Food Security Alliance – Crops draws together expertise from the Universities of Aberdeen and Dundee and the James Hutton Institute to create a hub of internationally-recognised excellence in crop science, soil science, environmental modelling, and human nutrition.

This conference explored novel approaches in soil forensics. It provided an international focus for discussion of research and development in forensic soil science for the benefit of both environmental protection and criminal investigation.

The James Hutton Research Institute is the result of the merger in April 2011 of MLURI and SCRI. This merger formed a new powerhouse for research into food, land use, and climate change.
