Gareth has worked at the institute since 1995 and for James Hutton Limited since 2016. Gareth specialises in inorganic analyses for water and soils. He is now the business development manager for the analytical services and has previously held the positions of Head of Inorganic analyses, Service delivery manager, Technical Manager and Quality Manager for ISO 17025 and ISO 17020 accreditation.

Gareth has a keen interest in developing new analytical techniques and has been involved in analysing blood samples for Selenium (see publications). Future research work aims to look at the uncertainty involved with values approaching the limits of detection on both ICP techniques and the uncertainties of different sample matrices.

The following Publications have not yet been migrated to the James Hutton Institute's Pure service and relate to the research outputs from the two legacy organisations: The Macaulay Land Use Research Institute and The Scottish Crop Research Institute.
