Hutton to host Climate-Positive Farming Taster Day at Glensaugh Research Farm as part of Climate Week North East
The James Hutton Institute is inviting those keen to learn about the future of agriculture to a Climate-Positive Farming Taster Day at Glensaugh Research Farm on Wednesday 23 September.
Organised as part of Climate Week North East, the taster will give visitors the chance to join the team behind the Hutton’s Climate Positive Farming Initiative (CPFI) for a farm walk and indoor displays.
Attendees will learn about the groundbreaking work being done at Glensaugh to address the climate and biodiversity crises through transformative farming and technological innovations.
Hutton researchers will explain the details of the peatland restoration, green hydrogen-powered farming, agroforestry, greenhouse gas emission and natural flood management projects taking place at Glensaugh as they lead visitors up the glen, across the moor and through the fields.
The guided walk will be followed by indoor displays with coffee and tea, during which visitors can discuss specific projects with the Hutton team.
Two walks will take place on the day, one beginning at 10am and the other at 2pm. Each will last around 90 minutes, covering a distance of 3km. The route features steep inclines and may be muddy due to weather, so hiking boots are advised. The walk is family friendly; however, the route is not accessible for wheeled transport users – such as pushchairs, wheelchairs, motorised scooters.
