Arable Scotland 2027 to offer evidence-based solutions for a resilient farming future

Arable Scotland, Scotland’s premier event for knowledge exchange in arable farming, will return on Tuesday 16 February 2027 at SRUC’s Aberdeen campus, bringing together the people and ideas shaping the future of the sector.
Under the theme Future Ready: Evidence for cultivating farming resilience, the 2027 conference will focus on the science, research and real-world evidence needed to help businesses adapt and thrive in the face of growing challenges.
Farmers, researchers, advisers, industry stakeholders and students from across Scotland are encouraged to attend what promises to be a thought-provoking and practical day of discussion, learning and networking.
“The conference will explore some of the most pressing issues facing the sector, including increasing disease pressures, shifting markets and the impacts of climate change.”

Dr Alison Karley, Head of Ecological Sciences at The James Hutton Institute and one of the event organisers said, “The conference will explore some of the most pressing issues facing the sector, including increasing disease pressures, shifting markets and the impacts of climate change. Delegates will hear from leading experts on the latest findings from research and practice and discover evidence-based approaches that can help build resilience and support sustainable productivity.”
A dedicated session led by students will examine what the arable sector could look like in ten years’ time, the skills and knowledge future professionals will need and whether current education and training pathways are preparing the next generation for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
As Scotland’s flagship arable farming conference, Arable Scotland provides a unique platform for sharing knowledge, encouraging collaboration and connecting those working across the agricultural sector. With further programme announcements still to come, attendees can expect a diverse range of topics and speakers offering fresh insights into the future of farming.
