Urmi Ghosh

Urmi is a Digital Mineralogist in the Environmental and Biochemical Sciences group with a keen interest in various fields of Earth Sciences. She did her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur (2022), completed her master's degree in Geology from IIT Bhubaneswar, and a bachelor's degree in Geology (Hons.) from Presidency University, Kolkata.

Dr Amy Cooper has a dual appointment at the James Hutton Institute and is an Environmental Microbiologist in the Environmental

Raul Huertas

Raul joined the Institute in November 2020 as Plant Biochemist/Molecular Physiologist. Raul's training combines a BSc in Biochemistry, MSc in Biochemical Sciences and another in Agricultural Science, and a PhD in Plant Sciences.

Shaini Naha

Dr Eulyn Pagaling is a Senior Environmental Microbiologist. Her research focuses on environmental contaminants such as antimicrobial resistance, microplastics, pathogens

Mhairi Coyle

My area of expertise is in measuring and modelling the deposition, concentrations and trends of ground-level ozone and other gases although I have worked in other areas including acid deposition and NH3 exchange. I have also worked with a Chemical Ionisation Mass Spectrometer (CIMS) to measure various different species and assist with instrumentation for field sites and campaigns.

Andy Kindness

Dr Andy Kindness is the leader of The James Hutton Institute's Environmental and Biochemical Sciences group.

Dr Kindness’ joined the Institute from Aberdeen University’s School of Natural and Computing Sciences, where he coordinated a postgraduate MSc in Oil & Gas Chemistry, was responsible for recruitment of students for this course and helped develop curricula, increased industry interaction, student numbers and student satisfaction.
