Jean Robertson

Jean Robertson is an Infrared Spectroscopist and Head of the IR Section of the Analytical Group at the Institute. She has worked at the Institute in the IR Section since 2004, becoming head of the section in 2005, which encompasses both the analytical techniques of FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) spectroscopy and NIR (Near Infrared) spectroscopy.

Rob Brooker

Rob is Head of Ecological Sciences at The James Hutton Institute. He is a plant ecologist with over 25 years’ experience of ecological research. He has extensive experience of ecology in a wide range of environments, including arctic, montane, alpine, semi-arid and arable ecosystems, and currently undertakes research at sites across Scotland.

Helen Watson

Helen completed her academic study at the University of Aberdeen and then began her career at the Institute in 1998. She is an experienced technical assistant with both field and laboratory based skills.

Dr. Kerry Waylen

Kerry Waylen is a senior researcher in the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences (SEGS) department at the James Hutton Institute.  She builds understanding of how to achieve more 'joined up' approaches to natural resource management – i.e. working holistically and inclusively to consider multiple issues and interests in interconnected systems. She works part-time.

My main research area is the above- and below ground interactions between fungi, plants and animals on which I have
