Tom is a Molecular PCN Resistance Researcher working within the CMS department.

Current research interests

  • Identification of novel resistances to Potato Cyst Nematodes from Solanum species
  • Improving knowledge of known resistance genes against Potato Cyst Nematodes

    Investigating variation within wheat rusts, especially yellow rust.
  • 2015 - 2019: PhD at NIAB-EMR and the University of Reading
    Thesis title: Pathogenomics of Phytophthora fragariae, the causal agent of strawberry red core disease

The James Hutton Research Institute is the result of the merger in April 2011 of MLURI and SCRI. This merger formed a new powerhouse for research into food, land use, and climate change.
