Dr. Nikki Baggaley

Nikki's background is in soil hydrology and terrain analysis. Prior to joining the Institute Nikki had three years experience working on the European agricultural modelling project: STAMINA.

Caroline Thomson

Caroline joined the Institute in 1984 as a research assistant. She has experience of a broad range of analytical techniques

Claire Newman

Claire has over 20 years laboratory experience including nine years in microbiological laboratories and two years with Scottish Water, before joining the Institute in 2002 where she has worked in both the Soils and Catchment Management groups.

Rebekka Artz

Rebekka is a peatland research leader, with over 20 years of experience in research projects spanning multiple disciplines including ecology, atmospheric sciences, remote sensing, social sciences and in bridging science and policy. She has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications, as well as numerous research reports, two book chapters and interactive media content (such as included in the Virtual Peatland Pavilion for the UNFCCC COP26).

Rob Brooker

Rob is Head of Ecological Sciences at The James Hutton Institute. He is a plant ecologist with over 25 years’ experience of ecological research. He has extensive experience of ecology in a wide range of environments, including arctic, montane, alpine, semi-arid and arable ecosystems, and currently undertakes research at sites across Scotland.
