Dr. Nikki Baggaley

Nikki's background is in soil hydrology and terrain analysis. Prior to joining the Institute Nikki had three years experience working on the European agricultural modelling project: STAMINA.

Ken Thomson

Professor Ken Thomson is an economist who has worked on agricultural and rural policy issues for several decades of university career at Newcastle upon Tyne and Aberdeen (of which he is a native). He is currently working part-time in SEGS for a limited period, mainly to assist the Group and its members to obtaining and successfully completing contributions to the Institute's overall mission.

Caroline joined the Institute in 1984 as a research assistant. She has experience of a broad range of analytical techniques

Claire Newman

Claire has over 20 years laboratory experience including nine years in microbiological laboratories and two years with Scottish Water, before joining the Institute in 2002 where she has worked in both the Soils and Catchment Management groups.

Steve Albon

Steve Albon was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland's National Academy of Sciences and Letters, in 2008. He has held an Honorary Chair at the University of Aberdeen since 1997.

Rebekka Artz

Rebekka is a peatland research leader, with over 20 years of experience in research projects spanning multiple disciplines including ecology, atmospheric sciences, remote sensing, social sciences and in bridging science and policy. She has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications, as well as numerous research reports, two book chapters and interactive media content (such as included in the Virtual Peatland Pavilion for the UNFCCC COP26).

Helen completed her academic study at the University of Aberdeen and then began her career at the Institute in 1998. She is an experienced technical assistant with both field and laboratory based skills.
