Our work aims to predict the likely changes in biodiversity and ecosystem services resulting from an increase in woodland cover
  • We are still working on this project and gathering data - but trees grow very slowly - particularly in Scotland! Hence the lack of recent publications. However we are starting to see changes on the compariatively recently planted BIG experiment planted only 14 years ago and are in the process of gathering data which we hope to write up soon.

The James Hutton Research Institute is the result of the merger in April 2011 of MLURI and SCRI. This merger formed a new powerhouse for research into food, land use, and climate change.
