Laura MacLean
I am an environmental social scientist in the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences Department (SEGS). I have recently joined the institute following completion of my PhD at the University of Strathclyde. My PhD investigated how a person’s environment impacts their quality of life within an east-African context. My research was focused on Malawi's capital city, Lilongwe, to provide a cultural dimension to the research as hitherto east African cities have been in the periphery of urban discourse. My background is in architecture and urbanism with a focus on placemaking.
